The Carleton Ravens were downed by #1 ranked McGill Martlets 7-0 at the Ice House.

Raven Laurie-Marie Bianconi had a breakaway late in the first period, though she just couldn’t connect with her shot going right at the Martlet’ goalie. Later in the frame McGill’s Gabrielle Davidson earned her fourth goal of the season, coming quickly off the face-off. Davidson was able to slip the puck past Ravens goalie Tamber Tisdale.

In the second period, Tisdale would make several impressive saves, and escaped a close call when one McGill shot went off the crossbar. Before long the Martlets would score on a power play to extend their lead to 2-0, followed by another goal by Davidson. Davidson would finish with a hatrick on the night for the Martlets. A final goal near the end of the period would put McGill up 4-0 at the second intermission.

McGill sealed their victory early in the third, scoring their 5th of the game just 54 seconds into the period. Another 2 goals before games end would cap off a 7-0 Martlets victory.

Despite ranking 2nd in the CIS with 22 shots per game, the Ravens were outshot 13-43 against McGill. Carleton also doubled McGill’s penalties on the game (9 infractions to McGill’s 4), playing shorthanded for a total of 18 minutes.

The Ravens are now 1-5 in the regular season. Carleton will play their second back-to-back game against #1 McGill on the road on November 14 at 7 p.m.
