WSOC | The Ravens Welcome Recruit Julianna Servello

The Carleton Ravens women’s soccer team is pleased to announce the signing Julianna Servello out of Thunder Bay for the 2019-20 season. Servello joins an ambitious recruiting class that will look to build on last season’s OUA playoff appearance.

GoRavens.ca spoke with Servello to discuss her future at Carleton.

Name: Julianna Servello
Hometown: Thunder Bay, Ontario
High school: St. Ignatius
Position: midfield / forward
Favourite national team: Canada
Favourite club team: Juventus/Toronto FC
Accomplishments: Member of 2017 OPDL champions, EDP cup New Jersey champions, 2-time Thunder Bay high school champions, 2-time OFSAA player of the game.

Q: Why did you decide to attend Carleton?
A: I love Ottawa! Carleton is an amazing university. Coach Dom and the team have a great reputation!
Q: How did you get started in soccer?
A: My dad taught me the game at a young age and I fell in love with it.
Q: What is your style of play?
A: I am a very aggressive pressure player with good vision and awareness.
Q: Is there a professional soccer player that you model your game after?
A: Diana Matheson.
Q: Describe your strengths and some areas for improvement?
A: Fitness, drive and determination. I apply pressure to my opponents to create turnovers. I have good vision and playmaking ability. I am always trying to improve, especially my first touch.
Q: What academic program will you be studying and why is that of interest to you?
A: I am currently undecided, however, I am leaning towards social work or cognitive science. I feel like I can make a difference and help a lot of people.
Q: What extra-curricular activities do you enjoy?
A: Running, working out and spending time with family and friends.
Q: What part about playing for the Ravens soccer team are you most looking forward to?
A: Playing for Coach Dom and making friends and lasting memories. Winning many championships!
