OTTAWA, Ontario – The Carleton Ravens are pleased to announce Salena Devellis as the women’s soccer team’s newest recruit.
Name: Salena Devellis
Hometown: Barrie, ON
High School: St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School
Soccer Club: Barrie Soccer Club
Position: Striker/Midfielder
Favourite National team: Italy
Favourite Club team: Toronto FC
I decided to attend Carleton University because it is a great school for academics and athletics. I visited several times and felt extremely comfortable and welcomed on campus and by the team. I am excited to improve on and off the field as a student and athlete during my time at Carleton.
I am looking forward to joining an environment and team that treats each other like family. I am also looking forward to playing for a passionate coaching staff that can help me improve my skills.
I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old. My dad loved the game, and through him I learned to love the game as well. He has been my coach since I was 4, and has helped me become the player I am today.
I am an aggressive player who enjoys the physical part of the game. I try to be as courageous as possible when attacking, and love to play with a team that maintains possession.
I have always admired Desiree Scott’s physical play and how she can be a force in the midfield.
Strengths: Movement off the ball, physicality, striking/finishing, speed
Areas of Improvement: Winning balls in the air, defensive side of ball
I will be studying in the Health Science program. My plan is to branch off into the field of either Physiotherapy, or Athletic Training.
I enjoy working out, playing football, and beach volleyball. I am also very good at cooking and baking 😊
