After a pair of weekend sweeps over two very determined UofT squads, the Carleton Ravens are back in the gym preparing for their next challenge. They won't have to look far or wait long though as they head down the canal for a Bytown Battle with the uOttawa Gee-Gees this Wednesday night.
The Ravens will enter both games on a roll, the women have now won 4 straight while the men fought off a sharpshooting Blues team to keep their 11 game streak intact.
Only two weeks ago the Ravens and Gee-Gees squared off in the Capital Hoops Classic with the Ravens coming out on top 63-43. Despite the final score, the Ravens actually found themselves behind at the break, with the Gee-Gees leading 31-26. Defensively, the Ravens adjusted in the second half, holding the Gee-Gees to only 12 points and 6 of 35 shooting. Almost more impressive, the Ravens managed to only send the Gee-Gees to the line for two shots in the last two minutes, taking only 7 fouls in the half.
A bump in the road at Cap Hoops for the uOttawa Gee-Gees will only add fire to Wednesday's Bytown Battle. The Ravens and Gee-Gees come into another late-season matchup once again 1-2 in the OUA East standings. Separated by only the Capital Hoops result, the Ravens will need an all-hands-on-deck approach to tame their rivals. After fending off the Varsity Blues without Alain Louis and Ivan Cucak, the Ravens will need everyone at their best to contain Guillaume Pepin, Maxime Boursiquot and the rest of the Garnet and Grey.
