Major Awards

Carleton University Department of Athletics and Recreation Major awards are presented annually to acknowledge the effort, commitment and dedication of student-athletes, coaches and volunteers within the Carleton Athletics community.

2021-2022 Winners

Ruth Coe Memorial Award – Vanessa Chiappetta, Women’s Rugby

After recording one of the most impressive offensive seasons in program history, Ravens rugby back Vanessa Chiappetta has been awarded the Ruth Coe Memorial Award as women’s athlete of the year. The Rigaud, Quebec, product turned in the fifth highest-scoring season in program history recording 44 points including seven tries.

 

 

Jack Vogan Award – Lloyd Pandi, Men’s Basketball

The Carleton Ravens have named Lloyd Pandi as the men’s Athlete of the Year. The award is given to Pandi for the demonstration of outstanding athletic ability during the current year in Carleton’s interuniversity program.

 

 

 

Jack Vogan Memorial Medal – Outstanding Graduating Male Athlete – Alain Louis, Men’s Basketball

Ravens guard Lloyd Pandi has received the 2022 Jack Vogan Award as Outstanding Graduating Male Athlete. The Montreal guard played a key role in the Ravens 2022 U SPORTS National Championship victory being awarded the Jack Donahue Trophy as Final 8 MVP.

 

Outstanding Graduating Female Athlete – Roberta Drummond, Rugby

Ravens rugby co-captain Roberta Drummond has been honoured as Carleton University’s Outstanding Graduating Female Athlete. The fifth-year scrum-half from Belleville, Ontario, helped lead her program to its first-ever RSEQ medal in 2021.

 

 

Pat O’Brien Award – Ravens’ Coach of the Year – Taffe Charles, Men’s Basketball

Carleton Ravens men’s basketball head coach Taffe Charles has been awarded the 2022 Pat O’Brien Award as Raven’s Coach of the Year. Following his second consecutive national championship as head coach of the Ravens men’s program, Charles earns his first Pat O’Brien Award with the men’s program and fourth all time.

 

Varsity Council Volunteer Award – Melanie Judges, Rugby

Carleton Ravens women’s rugby assistant coach Melanie Judges has been awarded the 2022 Varsity Council Volunteer Award. The award is presented to a volunteer or part-time staff member associated with one of the varsity teams who goes above and beyond the expectations of their role with the team. Judges has been an assistant coach with the Ravens since 2017.
