Following 50 points off the bench on Friday night, the Ravens received 28 on Saturday afternoon, including 18 from Madison Reid (Carleton Place, Ont.). Reid's explosion off the bench couldn't have come at a better time as Ravens starters Kali Pocrnic (Oakville, Ont.) and Dorcas Buisa (Gatineau, Que.) got off to an uncharacteristically slow start shooting a combined 0 for 12.
In the first quarter the Ravens would inching away from the Blues taking 24-19 lead into the break before leading 37-26 at the half. As the Ravens continue to search for their consistency on defence the Varsity Blues gave them everything they could handle. "We knew UofT would come in and respond today, they've done that throughout the year, they've come out with really good effort and we were so-so with our response," explained Ravens coach Dani Sinclair.
Buisa would shake off her slow start in the second half, finishing the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the month. Joining Buisa with a double-double was Tatyanna Burke. The Winona, Ontario, guard is now third in the OUA in rebounds with 111.
The Ravens now set their sights on a quick turnaround for Wednesday night when they will travel to Ottawa for a Bytown Battle with the Gee-Gees. "Our Monday, Tuesday will look pretty normal," said coach Sinclair. "But regardless, both teams will be ready for that game and it's one of those things where you just have to be able to battle through.
