The Carleton Ravens enter the final week of the OUA season with a pair of matchups against the Concordia Stingers.
The Ravens enter Tuesday night with looking to gain some momentum ahead of the playoffs. After a pair of one goal loses against the McGill Redbirds the Ravens have a 4-3-3 record, for a .550 winning percentage, which sees them sitting fifth in the OUA East/Far East just behind the .571 Stingers.
In their only meeting of the season, the Ravens and Stingers had a wild meeting at the Ice House in November, trading goals on route to a 7-6 Stingers shootout win. The game was much like the season thus far for both teams, with lots of ups and downs a ton of grit.
With 264 penalty minutes in 14 games the Stingers lead the OUA East/Far East, while the Ravens have averaged 15 minutes a night in their ten games. The Ravens will need the OUA's fifth-best penalty kill to be on it's game if they want to ground the Stingers who are second in the league on the power play with 16 goals in only 62 opportunities.
It's all about winning percentage in 2021-22, with the top seed in both the East and Far East already wrapped up it's all about placement this weekend. The Queen's Gaels and UQTR Patriotes have locked themselves into the top of the table, but there's lots of movement left to be had.
If the Ravens successfully sweep the Stingers they can find themselves as high up the standings as third place, with Nipissing have three games in three nights this weekend in Kingston. The Lakers challenging swing begins Friday at RMC before having to play the Gaels twice in under 19 hours to wrap up their season. Currently fourth in the OUA East/Far East the Stingers look to spoil the Ravens party and make the same climb up to the third spot with some help from the two Kingston schools.
Single elimination OUA Playoff Hockey gets underway on Wednesday, September 16.
