OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens have received the commitment of Vanier College guard Kyana-Jade Poulin. Poulin becomes the fourth player to join the Ravens ahead of the 2022-23 season.
The guard from Saint-Bruno, Quebec, is the current assist leader in the collégial RSEQ league with 43 helpers in only 11 games. Poulin is also among the RSEQ leaders with 7.5 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game and 4.4 defensive rebounds per game.
A two-time RSEQ All-Star in high school, the 5'9" guard looks to join the Ravens to further speed up her development. "I decided to attend Carleton because of the culture that has been established over there," said Poulin about the move to Ottawa. "I am always looking to push myself out of my comfort zone, so leaving Montreal and joining one of the greatest teams in the OUA will make me grow and will provide me new experiences."
Despite her strong offensive numbers, Poulin will fit right in with coach Sinclair's team because of her passion for playing defence. "I really like playing defence, I put a lot of pressure on the ball and on the offensive end I am quite versatile." While her love of defence is obvious, Poulin isn't shy to recognize her offensive ability, which has been on display for years in the RSEQ. "I believe that I have a great vision of the court," she explains. "I can pass the ball really well, but I am also able to play off the ball."
Poulin joins the Ravens for the 2022-23 season where she will study Applied Linguistics & Discourse Studies with the goal of one day becoming a speech therapist.
The Ravens continue their OUA season with a home-and-home that begins at Queen's on Friday, March 11 before returning home for the final home game of the season at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
