OTTAWA - Carleton Ravens women's rugby assistant coach Melanie Judges has been awarded the 2022 Varsity Council Volunteer Award. The award is presented to a volunteer or part-time staff member associated with one of the varsity teams who goes above and beyond the expectations of their role with the team. Judges has been an assistant coach with the Ravens since 2017.
After playing four seasons with the Queen's Gaels, Judges joined the Ravens for her fifth year of eligibility in 2016. Since graduating and joining the coaching staff she has been instrumental in leading the forwards and lineouts.
"She is devoted to seeing the team continually improve and develop on and off the field," said head coach David Luong. "During the day she is the Acting Manager in Human Resources at Public Services and Procurement Canada before she arrives at Carleton for field training. She has always given time to meet with players and is a great member of the women’s rugby coaching staff."
