OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens men's soccer team has added centre back Ty Hyde for the 2022-23 season. The Bowmanville product will be transferring to Carleton from Southern Connecticut University where he was named a NE-10 Conference All Rookie with the Owls.
"I’ve decided to attend Carleton to further my education while continuing to excel in my soccer career," said Hyde of the move. "With more opportunity arising within Canadian soccer, I made the decision to come back to Canada after completing my freshman year in the NCAA. Carleton was a clear choice for me to continue playing at a high level while staying home."
Prior to joining Southern Connecticut, Hyde trained with Derby County Football Club U17 and was a SAAC Academy Cup Finalist in 2017 with Sigma FC. Hyde will bring versatility to the Ravens back line. Having previously played wing and midfield he's described as a tough defender who brings pace and physicality to the game.
"I like to play out of the back with composure combined with a sense of urgency," explains Hyde. "I love to get involved in the play while on offence when the opportunity arises."
