The Ravens will look to raise the trophy for the 16th time since 2003 while the Huskies will look to do so for the first time since 2010.
The Ravens advanced to the finals with a gritty 64-63 win over the host Alberta Golden Bears following a first-round victory over Canada West champions the Victoria Vikes. The Huskies, for their efforts, have ousted both the OUA champion Brock Badgers and the OUA finalist Queen's Gaels thus far.
At a glance, a seven seed facing an eight seed seems like an unlikely final, but both teams are far more than their tournament seeds would suggest.
The Ravens have just completed their ninth undefeated season and knocked off the Ryerson Rams when they were upset in the OUA East Finals by a scrappy Gaels team. The Huskies were 11 and 5 in conference play before knocking off Brandon and UBC to reach the Canada West Final Four. The Huskies would lead to Alberta 90-74 before beating Regina 97-93 in overtime to win bronze and clinch their birth at the national championship.
The two teams haven't met since 2015, with their last tournament matchup coming on March 12, 2015, when the Ravens would beat the Huskies 90-50 in the quarterfinals in Toronto.
The Ravens and Huskies have met four times at the national championship. The Ravens have won the last two after the Huskies stunned the Ravens 86-82 in the 2010 semifinals.
