Burlington, Ont. - Former Ravens quarterback and Canadian broadcaster Mark Lee has been awarded the OUA's 2022 Media Member of Distinction award. The honour is awarded to a member of the news media who has made a major contribution to the development and growth of Ontario University Athletics.
Lee has long been one of the most recognizable voices in Canadian sport and has seen his talents span a number of different sports. From Hockey Night in Canada to the Olympic Games, Lee has been a mainstay as a broadcaster for some of Canada’s biggest sporting moments.
Amidst all of the impressive opportunities throughout Lee’s career, calling OUA football has brought his career full circle. From his days as a player to his very first live sports broadcast of the Vanier Cup for CBC Radio in the 1980s, university sport not only marked Lee’s start, but his passion.
Fans of OUA football will undoubtedly be familiar with that passion, as the Carleton University alum has brought his talents to the Yates Cup broadcasts for the last several seasons. A former quarterback during his days in the OUA with the Ravens, Lee has lent his expertise and passion for university football to the broadcast booth on numerous occasions. His knowledge of the game, his professional demeanor, and his engaging presence on the mic has helped to bring one of the conference’s biggest championships to the masses, aligning one of the best in business with one of the premier events on the varsity calendar each year.
