It will be the first game on the sidelines for Carleton’s new head coach Corey Grant who is looking to improve upon the team’s 2-4 record last season. In an interview with CFP Perspective, Grant said he was “starting to get the idea of what it means to be a Raven.”
“I’m pretty excited for that moving forward,” Grant added.
Carleton faces off against a McMaster Marauders team that finished the 2021 regular season with a respectable 3-3 record. The two teams did not face each other at all last season, and their last meeting was an Oct. 11 35-30 victory for the Ravens at home back in the 2019 season.
This game could see a lot of action through the air as both teams boast excellent quarterbacks. The Ravens’ offence will be led by the fifth-year starting quarterback Tanner DeJong who is looking for a big season trying to cement himself as one of the OUA’s top quarterbacks. The Ravens' defence will be up against fourth-year McMaster quarterback Andreas Deuck coming off a strong 2021 season where he threw for 1394 passing yards and 8 touchdowns in 6 starts.
As well, it’s a chance to take a look at some brand-new recruits for both teams. Both the Ravens and Marauders feature loads of first-year talent. The Ravens have nearly 30 first-year players on their roster, while McMaster has roughly 50. It will be an exciting day for plenty of student-athletes making their OUA football debut.
The game kicks off at 1 p.m. at TAAG Park on Saturday, Aug. 27. Tickets are still available! Make sure you get your seats before they’re all gone at goravens.ca/tickets.
