It’s a full day of soccer this Saturday, Sep. 17 at TAAG Park as the Carleton Ravens and the Nipissing Lakers meet for a doubleheader which kicks off with the Raven women at 12 noon before the Raven men take the field at 2:15 p.m.
Carleton soccer is off to a strong start to the 2022 season. The Raven women are undefeated through two matches, picking up a draw against a top team in the Queen’s Gaels before dismantling the RMC Paladins 4-0 to pick up their first win of the season. Goalkeeper Chloe Lachance-Soula (Ottawa, Ont.) is coming off of her first clean-sheet of the season. Forward Raquel Costa-Correia (Pickering, Ont.) is the team’s leading scorer with 2 goals after scoring a brace against RMC.
The Raven men picked up wins against Queen’s and RMC before returning home to draw 0-0 with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, picking up 7 points from their first 3 matches. Forwards Danny Assaf (Ottawa, Ont.) and Scott Mazzotta (Ottawa, Ont.) lead the way offensively with 2 goals each, and goalkeeper Tyler David (Hawkesbury, Ont.) is coming off a clean-sheet performance versus the Varsity Blues. A win over an undefeated Nipissing side could see Carleton move up the U Sports rankings where they currently sit as the third-ranked team in the country.
The Nipping Lakers come to Ottawa off to a hot start. Both the Laker men and women swept their opening weekend series against the Laurentian Voyageurs. The Nipissing men come to TAAG Park with a perfect 2-0-0 record, having yet to concede a goal so far this season.
The Nipissing women sport a 2-0-0 record of their own with two wins over Laurentian, including an 11-0 thrashing. The Lakers have three of the OUA’s top-5 leading scorers with Avery Cafaro (Maple, Ont.), Jennifer Milligan (Strathroy, Ont.), and Cassidy Brooks (Belfountain, Ont.) leading Nipissing with 3 goals each.
Tickets are available now! Make sure to come out and support your Ravens as they go for the weekend sweep.
