On Saturday night a rematch of the 2021 RSEQ Bronze Medal game is set to shine under the lights at TAAG Park. After splitting the season series with Montreal in 2021, the Ravens women’s rugby team fought valiantly to beat the Citadins in overtime of the Bronze Medal Match. Now, with both teams seemingly heading in different directions the Ravens look to continue their strong run to the top.
With a pair of 5-point wins to start the season, the 10th ranked Ravens look to keep pace with Laval and uOttawa with another win. Montreal has had arguably the toughest schedule of anyone in Canada to start the season facing the two aforementioned top-five teams. Following a 58-0 home loss to Laval the Citadins feel 34-0 last week to the Gee-Gees at Matt Anthony.
There’s no doubt, based on their prolonged success in the RSEQ that Montreal is a far better team than their record shows and the game promises to be filled with energy. For two weeks the Ravens are led by Maya Addai (Ottawa, Ont.) and Vanessa Chiappetta (Rigaud, Que.). Addai and Chiappette lead the Ravens in scoring and have played major factors in both of the team’s wins but are not without support. Ravens Claire File, Katie Cox and Lauryn Walker have all contributed significantly to the Ravens early season success.
