OTTAWA – The Carleton Ravens have lost two straight after falling 54-3 to the uOttawa Gee-Gees on Friday night. The Ravens found themselves behind early and were unable to close the gap against the perennial favourites at Matt Anthony Field.
The Gee-Gees would find themselves ahead in the 10th minute after blocking a Ravens clearing attempt and would hold an early lead. In the fourteenth minute the Gee-Gees would again put together a successful string of short pick-and-goes to push the Ravens inside their own end zone for a second try. Off the ensuing kickoff the Gee-Gees would capitalize on a well placed kick down field to set themselves up for another score off a lineout. The Gee-Gees would increase the lead to 26-0 before Vanessa Chiapetta (Rigaud, Que.) would score a penalty kick to put the Ravens on the board.
The second half would unfortunately be more of the same for the Ravens as the Gee-Gees scored early in the half to extend the lead to 30. Ottawa would add seven more before the half was 15 minutes old and settled in for a 54-3 finish.
The Ravens fall to 3-2 with the loss and now host Concordia next Saturday with 3rd place on the line in the RSEQ standings.
