OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens and Victoria Vikes will collide in the final game of the Carleton University House-Laughton Hoops Classic on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikes remained perfect for the tournament after holding off the Concordia Stingers 85-75. While the host Ravens battled back with a 15-8 third quarter to beat McMaster 78-67.
In the opening game, Victoria was led by Steve Mbida Abomo's team-high 20 points while Diego Maffia and Dominick Oliveri had 22 and 21 for the losing Stingers. Victoria led by 12 at the half outscoring Concordia 46-34 through 20 minutes.
The athletic Vikes were too much to handle at times scoring 22 points off turnovers and outscoring Concordia by ten in the paint.
The Marauders came out quickly against Carleton building a 25-20 first-quarter lead and maintaining a six-point advantage at the half. Unfortunately for McMaster, Carleton responded with a dominate final 20 outscoring their guests 35-18 in the second half.
Khalil Miller and Mychael Paulo led the way for Mac with 15 points each, while Ewaen Osunde and Mike Demagus both scored 12 points.
Carleton's comeback was paced by Connor Vreeken who had 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Veteran forward Grant Shephard was impressive for the second straight evening scoring his first double-double of the tournament with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Aiden Warnholtz had 13 assists for the Ravens in 39 minutes of play but shot only 4-of-14.
