Kingston, Ont. - The Carleton Ravens men's hockey team has slipped to .500 after falling 4-1 to the Queen's Gaels on Saturday night.
The Ravens fell behind 3:50 into the contest when Ryan Cranford (Embrun, Ont.) scored shorthanded to give the Gaels the lead but bounced back quickly. Parker AuCoin would continue his hot start to the 2022 season scoring his 8th of year to tie the game at one before the end of the first.
The Gaels would score three times in the first second period, taking advantage of nine Ravens penalties in the period to score twice. After Hayden Fowler (Kingston, Ont.) scored on the powerplay, the Ravens immediately found themselves shorthanded again.
The constant stream of penalties would see the Gaels take advantage of tired Ravens penalty killers again midway through the period. Then Duncan Campbell (Brandon, Man.) would score the Gaels' second shorthanded goal of the game with five minutes to play in the frame giving them the 4-1 lead.
The Ravens would outshoot the Gaels 8-3 in the third period but couldn't solve Gaels goaltender Luke Richardson.
The Ravens remain on the road next weekend as they take on when they face the UQTR Patriotes on Friday night at the Colisee de Trois-Rivieres. Catch all the action on OUA TV.
