OTTAWA - After losing last night 2-0 to the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, the Ravens’ men’s soccer team bounced back in a big way, beating the Laurentian Voyageurs at TAAG Park by a score of 8-0.
The Ravens were all over the Voyageurs early in this one. Just 5 minutes into this one, Carleton captain Ricky Comba (Ottawa, Ont.) cleaned up a rebound off a corner kick to put the Ravens up 1-0. Just 4 minutes later, Michael Blight (North Bay, Ont.) fed Devyn Viegas (Ottawa, Ont.) a beautiful ball which he slotted home to double Carleton’s lead.
The offensive onslaught would not finish there. In the 14th minute, Silvio Simil (Ottawa, Ont.) scored Carleton’s third in the opening stages of the game off a nice feed from Kevin Kaba (Ottawa, Ont.).
Before the end of the half, Silvio Simil fed Daniel Williams (Montreal, Que.) who scored his first as a Raven to give Carleton a 4-0 lead heading into the break.
“It was great to show that we have that depth when we need it, and it was good for those guys to get a chance to play and put any past mistakes behind them,” Carleton head coach Kwesi Loney said after the match.
Carleton picked up right where they left off in the second half. Just two minutes in, Daniel Williams (Montreal, Que.) put home a rebound to put the Ravens up 5-0. Three minutes later, Williams headed home his hat-trick goal making it 6-0 for Carleton.
“We Know Danny is a very capable player for us, and hopefully this will spring him on for the second segment of the season,” Loney said.
Devyn Viegas (Ottawa, Ont.) would add one more for the Ravens in the 54th and Mohamed Bouzidi (Ottawa, Ont.) scored in the 77th cruised as Carleton cruised to an 8-0 win.
Next up for the Ravens is a trip to Ontario Tech for a rematch with the Ridgebacks. Carleton will be looking to avenge their 2-0 defeat to Ontario Tech, their only loss so far this season. The match kicks off at 3:15 p.m., and streams live on OUA.tv!
