OTTAWA - Despite a valiant effort the Ravens women's rugby teams drive to qualify for their first U SPORTS national championship ended painfully short on Friday night with a 37-10 loss.
The Ravens faced their crosstown rivals from uOttawa for the second time in three weeks and while fairing far better than the last encounter, the Ravens could not overcome an early deficit. After falling behind early, the Ravens battled hard to close the gap to 13-10 before the Gee-Gees pulled away late in the second half.
Starting at number four, Anna Norman scored the lone try for the Ravens while Lauryn Walker added a convert and Vanessa Chiappetta added the Ravens first dropkick of the season.
With the loss, the Ravens now enter the RSEQ's consolation round where the team will look to repeat at RSEQ Bronze medalists.
