KINGSTON, ONT. - Carleton defenceman Majid Kaddoura’s three-goal effort was not enough on Wednesday night as the Ravens dropped their third-straight game losing 6-3 to the Queen’s Gaels.
After some tremendous early saves by Carleton goaltender Mark Grametbauer (Halifax, N.S.), the Gaels got on the board late in the first period on the powerplay as Duncan Campbell tipped an Owen Lalonde point shot home to put Queen’s up 1-0. The Ravens were outshot 14-5 in the opening period.
Kaddoura (Calgary, Alta.) got one back for Carleton early in the second period with a nice shot over the Richardson's blocker. The Gaels responded with two late goals courtesy of Matthew Hotchkiss and Hayden Fowler to take a 3-1 lead into the third period.
The Gaels carried their momentum from the first 40 minutes into the third period, putting three past Grametbauer to ensure a comfortable 6-3 win. Majid Kaddoura added two more goals in the third period to complete the hat-trick and raise his OUA goal total to four on the season.
After Wednesday’s win, the Gaels move to within one point of the Carleton Ravens, who currently sit in the sixth and final playoff spot in the OUA East. The two teams will not meet again this season, with the Gaels taking the season series 2-1-0 for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
Carleton is right back at it this Friday, Jan. 13, as they take on the McGill Redbirds on the road. The puck drop is at 7 p.m.
The Ravens will not return to the Ice House until their Jan. 28 clash with the UQTR Patriotes, but tickets are available now for the Colonel By Classic versus the uOttawa Gee-Gees on Jan. 22 live from The Arena at TD Place. Get your seats before they are gone!
