Kingston, Ont. - The Carleton Ravens powerplay set the tone on Friday night scoring three times in 2:04 as the Ravens beat the RMC Paladins 6-2.
Parker Aucoin (Sturgeon County, Alta.) made his return to the Carleton lineup on Friday and instantly made an impact scoring his 18th of the season just 2:30 into the contest. Aucoin continues to lead the OUA with 18 goals on the season despite having missed last weekends games.
The Paladins scored the next two, with Austin Saint and Chris Paquette beating starting goalie Mark Grametbauer. Before the period expired, Simon Kerr would keep the puck in at the line and walk below the dot before feeding Brogan O'Brien cross-crease to tie the game. O'Brien's second of the season seemed to spark the Ravens who came alive in the second.
With Chris Paquette out of the game for a check from behind, the Ravens special teams went to work scoring three times in the early stages of the third. After James Mayotte snapped home a wrist shot past Michael Davis, Aaron Boyd and Kieran Craig both buried.
The Ravens powerplay was an impressive 3-for-4 on Friday, but it wasn't all special teams. With the second period down to it's final minutes, Will Collins found Scott McKenzie with a pass through three defenders and the Calgary product had his first U SPORTS goal.
The Ravens managed a tidy third period, safe for a rowdy scrum late in the period, as they shut down the Paladins the rest of the way to cruise into the Colonel By Classic.
Carleton now prepares to host uOttawa at The Arena at TD Place on Sunday afternoon.
