After a snowstorm wiped out most of Friday's action in the RSEQ the Carleton Ravens and Bishop's Gaiters meet Sunday in Lennoxville with key points in the standings up for grabs.
The Ravens have stumbled to start 2023, picking up a loss to McGill while the Gaiters, currently fourth in the division, are tied with uOttawa at 19 points. Carleton needs to overcome a 9-point deficit down the stretch if they're to catch the Gaiters or Gee-Gees and will have to start Sunday.
Cecelia Lopez (Winnipeg, Man.) returns to the line-up today following time sidelined due to suspension, the first-year Raven leads the team in scoring with 8 points. Alongside Lopez, the Ravens have five players tied at 4 points, as the team had begun to establish some more consistent secondary scoring prior to the holidays.
While key offensive contributions will be important for the Ravens to catch fourth place, key defensive play will be needed as the Ravens try to eliminate their minus-seventeen goal differential. The Ravens have been bolstered of late by Marie-Eve Cote, the Quebec City goalie has been brilliant since missing time early in the season. In nine games, Cote is 3-4-2 with a sparkling .930 save percentage.
The Ravens will need to solve the Gaiters stingy defence. The Gaiters first eleven games of the season were all decided by one goal. However, the Gaiters enter Sunday off their worst loss of the year - a 6-2 defeat at the hands of Montreal one week ago.
