Montreal - The Ravens entered McConnel Arena on Friday night and picked up a key 4-2 victory over the McGill Redbirds. With the victory, the Ravens have clinched a spot in the OUA East playoffs.
Carleton trailed after one with the Redbirds taking the lead on a Mikisiw Awashish power play goal. Carleton was relentless in the second period peppering Redbirds goalie Emmanuel Vella with 18 shots. Simon Kerr (Kingston, Ont.) was the first to beat Vella, his bad angled shot rattled its way in tieing the game. Before the midway mark of the first Parker Aucoin finished off a gorgeous Ravens powerplay for his 23rd goal of the season.
Early in the third, Jacob Ball unloaded a one-timer from feet away from Vella overpowering the McGill goalie for a 3-1 lead. McGill would cut the lead in half with another powerplay goal from Awashish but it wouldn't be enough as Kieran Craig found the back of the empty net to secure the victory.
The Ravens can't spend much time celebrating, they're back in action on Saturday night at Ed Meagher Arena as they face the Concordia Stingers. The Ravens return home on Saturday, February 11 when they host Nipissing on Seniors Night.
