OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens are proud to announce Lanie Guimond (women's hockey), Ziad Saif El Nasr (wrestling) and Gebreal Samaha (men's basketball) as the latest Athletes of the Week. In a weekend full of highs it took four goals, a gold medal or a career-best weekend to earn the honour presented by The Prescott.
Lanie Guimond scored four times in two games for the Carleton Ravens over the weekend including the game-tieing goal in the final minute of Sunday’s matchup against McGill. The Kirkland Lake, Ontario, forward now has 6 goals on the season after doubling her season output on Friday night alone. Guimond’s recent hot streak was key for the Ravens who bounced back from a tough loss Friday with a come-from-behind overtime win on Sunday to close out the home half of their regular season.
Earning Carleton's first-ever gold medal in wrestling, Ziad Saif El Nasr led the inaugural Ravens wrestling team to success at the OUA Championship winning gold in the 61kg weight class.
It was a breakout weekend for Gebreal Samaha. The second-year forward made the most of almost 20 minutes a night setting season-highs in rebounds and assists. The Kehenchara, Lebanon, product cleaned up 26 rebounds over two games, including 15 Friday night as the Ravens extended their win streak to five.
