The men’s basketball team will face a familiar foe in the first of two U SPORTS semifinals on Saturday. The Ravens and Ottawa Gee-Gees will meet for the fourth time this year with a spot in Sunday’s finals on the line.
Carleton enters the game after holding off the RSEQ champions from UQAM Friday, while the Gee-Gees eliminated the Winnipeg Wesmen.
Carleton and Ottawa have played all three of their previous meetings since the start of February with Carleton winning the 2023 Capital Hoops Classic and the return match on February 15.
The Gee-Gees did take the most recent matchup, winning the Wilson Cup on March 4, which only raises the stakes for Saturday night.
The Ravens will need to cool off Wilson Cup MVP Kevin Otoo, who continued his hot shooting in the quarterfinals. For the Ravens, secondary scoring in the quarters came from Wazir Latiff. The Vaughan guard had 12 points to go along with Aiden Warnholtz’s 29 points and Grant Shephard’s 12 points.
