OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens have announced two new members of the women's hockey team in recent weeks as head coach Stacey Collarossi added not one but two local NCAA transfers for 2023-24.
The Ravens will welcome home Pembroke forward Meara Ryan and Ottawa goaltender Caitlin Whitehead in the fall. Ryan spent the past four seasons with Lindenwood in St. Louis, while Whitehead played closer to home at St. Lawrence University.
Both Ryan and Whitehead played together on the PWHL's Ottawa Lady Senators in 2018-19 before heading off to the NCAA.
Ryan spent four seasons at Lindenwood University, recording 15 points while playing over 100 games. A two-way player, Ryan was third in the CHA conference in blocks in 2022-23 after earning NSCA All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year honours in 2022.
The 5'7" forward now arrives at Carleton to pursue a Master of Science in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology.
A product of the Ottawa Sting, Lady 67s and Lady Senators programs, Whitehead is a 5'8 goaltender with good size and mobility. In 20 games with the Saints she posted a .901SV% and a 2.24 goals-against average. Excited to play closer to home, Whitehead will pursue a Master of Arts in Legal Studies.
In her time away from the rink, Whitehead gives back to the community including volunteering with charities like Meals on Wheels.
