Friendship and comradery mean so much to the student-athlete experience, perhaps no more so than for women's soccer player Chloe Doherty. Doherty's time at Carleton proved to be much more than an athletic experience.
"When I transferred to Carleton, I felt very lost and my teammates, coaches, and all athletic staff made me feel at home."
After her transfer, Doherty would go on to have a stellar career with the Ravens, helping to guide the team back to the playoffs while receiving several accolades and award nominations in her final season. A central piece of the Ravens' attack, Doherty was the team's heartbeat, setting the pace and leading what has become one of the more dangerous attacks in the OUA.
Despite her accolades and award nominations, for Chloe, her success at Carleton isn't measured on the field.
My fondest memory from Carleton was the opportunity to create irreplaceable friendships and memories. This past 2022 season specifically was one I will remember forever, as the bond our team had was incredible and I couldn't have asked for a better group to end my athletic career with. I am so excited to see what the team will accomplish in the future and I will be a proud alumni cheering them on the in stands.
Doherty also played a critical role in the Carleton community, as an active member of the Varsity Council, coordinating many community outreach initiatives, charity drives and events.
"I never had the chance to take a full tour of campus or get a feel of the community before attending," she admits. "However, I was not disappointed at all, as the campus has a wholesome feeling and Carleton has a very tight-knit community."
Doherty's impact at Carleton, her role on the varsity council and the support she provided her teammates will not soon be forgotten. Now working in the finance sector, Doherty is hard at work continuing to spread Ravens pride through the community.
" I was extremely proud every time I got to put on the Carleton jersey and I will always be grateful for the time I got to spend as a Raven."
