OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens opened the 2023 Carleton Ravens Fall Invitational Tournament with an impressive 81-48 win over the visiting Brock Badgers.
Carleton got off to a hot start outscoring the visiting Badgers 21-15 in the opening half, led by star point guard Kali Pocrnic who had 11 points.
In the second quarter, Carleton pulled away from the Badgers flexing their defensive skill while holding the Badgers to six points. Returning 2022 defensive player of the year Tatyanna Burke made a strong impact in the quarter recording five points and four rebounds while also recording a block and steal.
The Badgers went just 4/13 shooting in the third quarter as Carleton continued to have their way offensively. Carleton spread their 19 third-quarter points between five players while getting quality minutes off the bench from Oceanne Kounkou and Sierra Peck.
In the fourth quarter the Ravens played a variety of new looks and formations while being led by OUA Rookie of the year Jacqueline Urban who had 8 points in the quarter.
Carleton returns to action on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. when they host UQAM.
