OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens improved to 2-0 in RSEQ women's rugby after a convincing 57-0 victory Sunday afternoon.
The Ravens exploded offensively in the opening half scoring two tries in the opening 10 minutes en route to a 38-0 lead at the half. After Brianna Messer (Pembroke, Ont.) opened the scoring, with her first of three tries, four more Ravens scored as the Ravens put up six tries in the half.
It was more of the same early in the second half. Just three minutes into the half Messer scored her second try. Messer would add another try in the half before Madison Cunha (Hamilton, Ont.) scored her second try of the game to finish off the afternoon.
The Ravens were led by a series of strong performances, including leadership from Claire File (Milton, Ont.) who led the way at the 12. Vanessa Chiappetta (Rigaud, Que.) scored two tries and went 5-for-6 on conversions to record a team-high 20 points.
The Ravens (2-0) face Concordia next Sunday evening before returning home on Thursday, September 21 versus Ottawa.
