MONTREAL - After an impressive start to the 2023 season, the Carleton Ravens women's rugby team suffered their first loss Sunday evening, falling 43-10 to the Concordia Stingers.
The Stingers got off to a hot start, scoring twice in the opening twenty minutes on route to a 21-0 halftime lead.
The Ravens showed great resolve in the second half, battling hard to keep up with the Stingers. After Katie Cox (Fall River, NS) scored a penalty to get the Ravens on the board, Brianna Messer continued her hot play scoring her sixth try of the season to cut into the Stingers lead. The Ravens scoring wasn't enough however as Concordia would score late and hold on for the win.
With the loss the Ravens fall to 2-1 and slip further behind Concordia who now sit alone in second in the conference. The Ravens next matchup is a Bytown Battle on Thursday afternoon against the Ottawa Gee-Gees before welcoming Bishop's for the team's annual Pink Game and Seniors' Day on Sunday, September 24.
