North Bay, Ontario - Jessica Emerson scored in extra time Sunday afternoon to help the Nipissing Lakers force a draw against the visiting Ravens.
Carleton led 2-1 in extra time before Emerson beat Chloe Lachance-Soulard. The goal was a heart-wrenching way to finish for a Carleton team who were moments away from a second straight win over the Lakers.
Carleton opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Salena Devellis scored her second goal of the season. The lead lasted less than two minutes before Cassidy Brooks scored for the Lakers to even the game. Through the opening 45 minutes, the Lakers fired eleven shots at the Ravens goal with Lachance-Soulard making five saves.
Carleton would strike early in the second half as Chloe Doiron unleashed a rocket strike from outside the 18-yard box which beat Madison Heeley just underneath the bar. The lead would stand for over 45 minutes before the Lakers evened the game in the dying moments.
Despite the late counter, Lachance-Soulard was spectacular in goal for the Ravens making 11 saves.
The Ravens now fall to 3-1-2, they return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host the RMC Paladins at 1:00 p.m.
