OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens women's soccer team got the 2023 season off to a strong start Sunday afternoon blanking the Toronto Varsity Blues 1-0.
On a scorching afternoon at TAAG Park, the Ravens forced a number of chances in the opening half but couldn't beat the Toronto goalkeeper Maria Godoy-Atrash who had 4 saves in the opening half.
The Ravens continued the pressure early in the second half and were rewarded when Chloe Doiron (Dieppe, NB) scored the lone goal of the match on a dangerous strike from outside the box.
Despite taking a knock in the second half, Chloe Lachance-Soulard (Ottawa, ON) stood strong through 90-plus minutes for Carleton making 7 saves.
The Ravens' next test comes Friday afternoon when they face Queen's at Richardson Stadium in Kingston. Kickoff against the Gaels is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
