Windsor, ONT - A third straight comeback was not in the cards Saturday as the Carleton Ravens season came to a close following a 14-11 loss to the Windsor Lancers.
The Lancers would open the scoring in the first quarter when Brady Lidster took advantage of a possession with short field to score a 34-yard field goal. Before the Ravens could get on the board Lidster would add a rouge late in the second half for a 4-0 Lancers lead at halftime.
The Carleton defence kept the Ravens close throughout the afternoon generating three interceptions and forcing the Lancers to punt nine times. As the defence kept the Lancers at bay, a safety followed by a 38-yard field goal from Brandon Forcier (L'Ange Gardien, PQ) put the Ravens ahead 5-4 early in the fourth quarter. Lidster would make an 8-yard field goal with 8:56 to go to put the Lancers back on top.
Carleton appeared destined for another comeback as Tristan Rinaldis forced his way into the end zone with just over six minutes to go putting Carleton ahead 11-7. The Ravens would fail to score on their attempted 2-point conversion.
The Lancers would make the Ravens pay for those points left off the board, storming back down field to retake the lead. Trailing by only a field goal, Carleton put themselves into a position to force overtime late in the game, but we're unable to get inside Forcier's range, leaving him to attempt a career-long for the tie.
The Ravens comeback would fall just short seeing their 2023 season end in the first round of the OUA playoffs.
