OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens offence was out in full force on Saturday night as the Ravens defeating the defending OUA champions the UQTR Patriotes 5-1.
Just 24 hours after an early penalty kill saw the Ravens fall to the Concordia Stingers, Carleton exploded out the gate scoring two goals in the opening three minutes. After Lukash Matthews scored under 90 seconds into the game, Nolan Seed would tally just a minute and fifteen seconds. Already up two, Kieran Craig would finish in front on the power play and the Ravens led 3-0 only 8:13 into the game.
Craig's goal would be enough to chase star goaltender Alexis Gravel from the net and the Ravens never looked back. UQTR would respond quickly scoring just 79 seconds later, but two goals would be as close as they would come all night.
Nolan Seed would score his second of the night midway through the second period before Nick McCarry picked off a Patriotes clearing attempt and wired home the fifth and final goal of the evening.
Mark Grametbauer shut the door the rest of the way, making 24 saves including 8 in the third collecting his first win of the season.
With the win the Ravens improve to 1-1 and will now set out on the road where they will face RMC and Queen's this weekend in Kingston.
