London, ONT - The Carleton Ravens started their first trip to Southern Ontario with authority on Friday night beating the Western Mustangs 5-2.
Will Collins (Ottawa, ON) wasted little time opening the scoring after Garrett Wright sprung him on a breakaway to make it 1-0. After killing off an early penalty, the Ravens powerplay would double the lead as Nick McCarry buried his fifth of the season to make it 2-0 after twenty minutes.
The Mustangs would score early in the second to cut the lead in half, but with Reese Belton in the box Garrett Wright would make a nifty forehand backhand move before going short side shelf to put the Ravens back up by two.
The Mustangs would cut into the lead again while on the power play to start the third, but Reese Belton (Winnipeg, MB) would bury a Brogan O'Brien centering pass to once again return the Ravens two-goal lead. Wright would add an empty netter as the Carleton Ravens beat the Mustangs 5-2.
