OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens men's soccer team has finished atop the table as the best team in the OUA East. Despite a 2-2 draw with the TMU Bold on Sunday, Carleton has officially secured their bye for the first round of the OUA playoffs.
Raphael Garcia placed a beautiful cross into Mohammed Bouzidi in the 6th minute and he made no mistake finding space behind Obrad Bejatovic in the TMU goal. The Ravens would double their lead in the 29th minute when Luca Piccioli was left unmarked to score his 8th goal and 12th point of the season.
The Ravens' two-goal lead would be cut in half before the end of the half when Chris Campoli scored his seventh of the season.
The Ravens would retain their precarious 2-1 lead throughout the second half until just moments before the final whistle would blow. With three points well within Carleton's grasp, Campoli would once again find a loose ball and enough space to bury the tieing goal past keeper Tyler David.
David was spectacular in goal for the Ravens on Sunday making 13 saves including 10 in the second half as the Ravens clung to their lead.
With the victory the Carleton Ravens have clinched first in the OUA East and will be guaranteed a home playoff game in the OUA Quarterfinals on Saturday, October 28. Before Carleton can focus on the playoffs they'll face Ontario Tech and TMU next weekend on the road.
