QUEBEC CITY - Despite a valiant effort on Saturday afternoon, the Carleton Ravens season ended 40-13 to Laval.
Just one week after a difficult challenge at Laval last weekend the Carleton Ravens women’s rugby team returned to face the Rouge et Or again Saturday in the RSEQ Semifinal. The Ravens fell behind early, giving up a try in the first minutes of the game but responded quickly scoring on a penalty to make it 7-3 in just the first 6 minutes of the match.
Unfortunately for the Ravens, Laval would explode offensively in the next five minutes scoring 14 points to jump ahead 21-3. In the 18th minute, the Ravens would get a few back when Brianna Messer plunged over the line after a series of Ravens waves to secure the try.
The Ravens unfortunately couldn’t bridge the gap in the second half, hanging within 13 for most of the half until Laval scored two very late tries to extend the lead to 40-13.
