OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens women's soccer team have been eliminated from the OUA playoffs following a 1-0 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues.
The Ravens carried much of the possession in the game's opening fifteen minutes but couldn't muster a goal despite a run of consecutive corners won. After failing to score in the first minutes, the Blues would capitalize on their lone shot on target in the match beating goalkeeper Chloe Lachance-Soulard (Ottawa, ON) in an awkward bouncing ball which landed perfectly out of her reach and on the foot of the charger Toronto attacker.
Carleton started the second half somewhat hesitant before unloading everything they could at the visitors. Earning a number of key corners, Carleton brought pressure throughout the second half but was unable to turn chances into goals as Maria Godoy-Atrash (Mississauga, ON) made key saves to secure the victory.
This marks the second consecutive season that the Ravens have hosted a home playoff game, but as it did in 2022, it ends in round one.
The Ravens could return much of their starting 11 from Wednesday's game as two first-year players, a second-year and four third-year players all were part of the starting line-up.
