London, Ont. - The Western Mustangs rode a strong fourth-quarter performance to victory upsetting the number four ranked Ravens 98-92 on Friday evening.
The two teams exchanged first-quarter runs with Carleton coming out ahead 20-15 on the back of five points each from Noah Horobetz Simpson and Augustas Brazdeikis.
The Mustangs heated up in the second quarter as Aryan Sharma and Jerric Palma went a combined 4-for-6 from beyond the arc to put the Mustangs ahead by one at the break.
Carleton guards took over the third quarter with Aubrey Dorey-Havens and Wazir Latiff heating up to power the visitors back to even. With the game trading narrow leads in the fourth quarter, it would be Sharma and Palma heating up again, scoring a combined 18 points in the final ten minutes, single-handedly outscoring the Ravens and handing them their first loss of the season.
The Ravens look to rebound quickly as they head down the 401 tomorrow to face the Windsor Lancers before returning home next weekend for Opening Weekend presented by McKeen Metro Glebe.
