OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens men's basketball team are back to .500 following a 69-63 victory over the Brock Badgers.
In front of over 1,300 fans, the Ravens opened their 2023-24 home schedule with an impressive defensive performance. The Ravens offense however was inconsistent at times, getting off to a hot start before needed to adjust to the Badgers pressure through the middle of the game.
The Ravens started well on Friday night outscoring the Badgers 16-10 in the first quarter despite shooting 1-for-5 from downtown. Through the second and third, the Ravens' offence took a hit as Brock tightened up defensively outscoring the hosts 38-24 through the middle of the game to take an 8-point lead.
Entering the fourth quarter the Ravens seemed determined to find a rhythm and climb back into the ballgame. The three-ball was the difference down the stretch for the Ravens as they just couldn't miss in the fourth quarter. Daniel Smith, Aubrey Dorey-Havens and Marjok Okado all made clutch threes in the final ten.
Carleton was able to get a number of key stops in the fourth while Noah Horobetz Simpson and Augustus Brazdeikis cleaned up on the boards with a combined six of the Ravens' ten boards.
The Ravens now look to cap off their first two-game sweep of 2023-24 when they host Lakehead on Saturday night at the Ravens Nest.
A limited number of General Admission tickets remain for Saturday night.
