London, Ont. - Teresa Donato scored 20 points as the Carleton Ravens women's basketball team beat the Western Mustangs 72-46 on Friday night.
The Ravens took time to find a rhythm in the first quarter before Tatyanna Burke (Winona, Ont.) put up 6 points and 6 rebounds to help the Ravens settle into the contest. In their second consecutive road weekend, the Ravens found their form in the first outscoring Western 17-11.
Carleton's defence tightened up in the second quarter, holding the Mustangs to 10 points while Teresa Donato (Ottawa, Ont.) heated up from the bench scoring almost at will as the Ravens pulled away from the Mustangs. Carleton would outscore Western 26-10 in the second, taking a 43-21 lead into the break.
Neither team could find consistency in the third quarter after Western broke out first, finding their legs and going on a sizeable run before the Ravens came alive. Carleton would still manage to outscore the Mustangs 9-8 in the quarter and held their lead into the final ten minutes.
It was more of the same from Carleton in the fourth as consistency throughout the line-up helps the Ravens continue to build on their lead. Tatyanna Burke finished with a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds while Zerina Duvjnak had 7 rebounds and 8 points off the bench.
The Ravens' effort on the defensive end saw them dominate the glass outrebounding Western by 17 including a a 36-6 advantage in the Ravens' defensive end.
Carleton continues on their OUA West swing tomorrow night when they venture to the bottom of the 401 to face Windsor.
