Sudbury, Ont. - The Carleton Ravens are 6-0 to start the 2023-24 season following a 76-44 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday night.
The Ravens jumped out to a 23-11 lead after ten minutes and never looked back. Kali Pocrnic (Oakville, Ont.) had 10 points in the first ten minutes while Jacqueline Urban added six and four rebounds to help Carleton pull away quickly.
The Voyageurs would shoot 40.0% in the second quarter, but it wasn't enough to close the gap on Carleton as seven Ravens scored points while Tatyanna Burke hauled in five rebounds to lead 55-26 at the half.
The two teams would play their closest quarter of basketball in the third with Laurentian holding Carleton to 15 points on 7-20 shooting. For the hosts, it was a team effort as Emilie Lafond led the group with just four of her team-high 19 points in the third.
Carleton would respond in the fourth quarter, putting Laurentian away while holding them to just five points and only 11 shot attempts, seven from the free throw line. Oceanne Kounkou led the scoring for Carleton in the fourth with five points as 11 different Ravens took the court in the final frame.
Carleton will now continue their Northern road swing with a stop in North Bay on Saturday night when they face the Nipissing Lakers at 6:00 p.m. on OUAtv.
