MONTREAL - The Carleton Ravens women's hockey team picked up a crucial regulation win on Friday night with a 4-1 win over the McGill Martlets.
The Carleton Ravens offense was out in full force early scoring two goals in the opening period at the infamous arena on the hill.
After losing twice last weekend, Carleton wasted little time creating their own fate on Friday night as Cecelia Lopez (Winnipeg, Man.) jumped on a rebound at the side of the goal to give Carleton an early lead. Before the period was over Abigail Byrne (Ottawa, Ont.) would score the Ravens' second of the period.
Carleton would hold their lead throughout the second period but just seconds into the third period McGill would cut the lead in half. With a power play carrying over from the second, Megan Harley would score 28 seconds into the frame. Carleton would be satisfied seeing their lead cut in half as Justina Beard unloaded on a one-timer from Jenna Morais to renew the two-goal lead.
Cecilia Lopez would add their second of the game with an empty netter in the third to cap off the scoring.
Carleton continues their month-long road trip on Saturday when they travel back to Lennoxville to face the Bishop's Gaiters at 7:00 p.m. The women's hockey team will finally return to the Ice House at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3 in their final game before the exam break.
