OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens offence stayed red hot following last weekend's wild overtime win at York, with an impressive 8-2 win over the visiting Guelph Gryphons.
The Ravens wasted little time taking the lead in the first as Parker Aucoin (Sturgeon County, Alta.) scored just five minutes into the contest to take the lead. After Guelph tied the game midway through the period Simon Kerr (Kingston, Ont.) would notch his first of the season to give Carleton the 2-1 lead after one.
Reese Belton (Winnipeg, Man.) unloaded a wrist shot early into the third to put Carleton up 3-1. After the Gryphons scored on the penalty kill to cut the lead to one, Lukash Matthews (Ottawa, Ont.) would jump up on the rush and beat Tanner Wickware five-hole to renew the lead. Before the period had ended, Majid Kaddoura (Chestermere, Alta.) would jump up in the play, receiving a cross-ice pass from Oliver Castleman for his first of the season.
The Ravens wouldn't let up in the third, adding goals from Brogan O'Brien, Matt Barberis and Oliver Castleman for the 8-2 final. Carleton would outshoot Guelph 37-17 on the night including not allowing a single shot against in the third.
Carleton quickly returns to action tomorrow night when they face number four-ranked Brock at the Carleton Ice House.
