Hamilton, Ont. - Playing just minutes from her hometown, Jacqueline Urban exploded on offence while dominating the glass as the Carleton Ravens women's basketball team improved to 8-0 after beating McMaster 86-56.
Urban was a force throughout the night scoring 14 points and recording 17 rebounds including a first-half double-double as Carleton pulled ahead 46-25 after 20 minutes.
Carleton started strong in the first quarter shooting 42.9% while frustrating the Marauders who only managed 20% shooting. If not for three deep threes the Marauders first quarter could have been much worse than it looked. Carleton's defensive pressure included two steals and eleven defensive rebounds to lead 23-12.
Carleton continued with more of the same in the second quarter as Dorcas Buisa (Gatineau, Que.) heated up leading the Ravens with 7 points while Urban and Kyana Jade Poulin (Saint Bruno, Que.) combined for 9 rebounds.
Kali Pocrnic (Oakville, Ont.) would find her rhythm in the third quarter scoring her first 9 points of the evening. Pocrnic's strong quarter almost single-handedly outpaced their hosts as Mac managed just 11 points in the quarter.
The bench would take over for the Ravens in the final 10 minutes as Ottawa products Teresa Donato and Hadeze Ismaila took over scoring a combined 11 points while as the Ravens cruised to victory.
Carleton have two games left in 2023 as they'll face York tomorrow afternoon before returning to Ottawa on Wednesday when they visit the Gee-Gees at Montpetit Hall.
