OTTAWA - Ravens basketball has swept the first Athlete of the Week presented by McKeen Metro Glebe for 2024. Men's rookie guard Xavier Spencer and veteran Dorcas Buisa earned the weekly honours after helping the Ravens to a 3-1 record at home.
With 4:04 to play in a Saturday's Top 10 matchup between the Ravens and visiting Gaels Dorcas Buisa stripped the ball from Emma Weltz at mid-court before racing in for a layup to put Carleton up 7. A deep three ball minutes later was the exclamation point on what had been a fantastic defensive weekend for the Ravens guard.
Buisa held Weltz to 0-6 shooting on Saturday while collecting 7 rebounds and scoring 13 points of her own. The Gatineau, Quebec, guard was following up on a brilliant performance Saturday where she recorded 8 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
After scoring 9 points and collecting 3 rebounds on Friday night, Ravens rookie guard Xavier Spencer exploded on Saturday night against the third-ranked Queen's Gaels.
Spencer scored 25 points, collecting 3 rebounds and adding 2 assists while shooting 8-15 including an impressive 4-8 from beyond the arc. The performance was highlighted by an exceptional second quarter where Spencer went 6-6 shooting including 4-4 from downtown for 19 points.
