OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens men's basketball team continued their winning ways on Friday night beating the visiting Nipissing Lakers 80-62.
The Ravens faced tight competition early on as the Lakers held tight, trailing by only three at the end of the first quarter. The Ravens led by as many as seven midway through the first before the Lakers clawed their way back. Within the first 11 seconds of the second quarter, the Lakers had tied the game which seemed to wake up the Ravens.
A Marjok Okado three put the Ravens ahead by 8 just 2:32 into the second quarter. From there, the lead only continued to grow with Okado and Xavier Spencer leading the charge as Carleton built their lead out to twelve. At the half, Carleton led 45-37.
The Ravens guards continued to build momentum in the third quarter with Wazir Latiff pushing the tempo as Carleton flirted with a 20-point advantage before finishing the quarter up 16.
The Lakers looked like they may start to chip away at the lead in the third, generating a small push, which brought the game to 14 before Okado nailed another big three to slow the Lakers' run. The Ravens' wouldn't look back, carrying momentum through the rest of the quarter on route to the victory.
