Soo Sault Marie, Ont. - The Carleton Ravens continued their winning streak on Saturday night beating the Algoma Thunderbirds 85-65.
It was offence-by-committee in the first quarter as early foul trouble saw the Ravens use 10 players. Seven different Ravens would score in the opening frame including five points from each of Aubrey Dorey-Havens and Daniel Smith. With Noah Horobetz Simpon in early foul trouble Emanuel Milon and Reggie Jean Seraphin played key minutes for the Ravens who led 22-16 after one. Johan Germain, of Algoma, led all scorers in the first with 11 points.
Marjok Okada would step up for Carleton in the second, scoring 9 points on 3-6 shooting and 2-3 at the line. As Germain cooled down to just 6 points on 1-4 shooting the Ravens were able to pull ahead, outscoring their hosts 28-13 in the quarter.
Algoma would storm back in the third, with 9 personal fouls called against the Ravens the Thunderbirds rallied. They would go 6-9 at the line and shoot 50% from beyond the arc to outscore Carleton 21-13.
The strong pushback seemed to calm the Ravens, the young squad found their rhythm in the fourth and pulled away, outscoring Algoma 22-15. Aubrey Dorey-Havens led the Ravens in the final quarter, playing wire-to-wire while scoring 7 points and with 3 rebounds and 3 assists. The Ravens would also get 12 points from the three-ball in the fourth, shooting 57% to put a quiet end to the one-game road trip.
The Ravens now return home next weekend to welcome Laurier and Waterloo to the Nest.
