OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens were held off the scoresheet for the second consecutive night, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Bishop's Gaiters.
The Ravens skated well in the opening frame outshooting the Gaiters but Ericka Gagnon was up to the task stopping all ten shots she faced. Despite the struggle offensively, the Ravens appeared to build momentum with two more penalty kills, continuing on a strong performance from the night before.
The Gaiters would score on a deflection early in the second period to take the lead, then less than a minute later found themselves on the powerplay looking to capitalize. The Ravens would do a good job getting into shooting lanes early in the powerplay. Still, a rebound off Caitlin Whitehead bounced back to the Gaiters' impressive rookie Gabrielle Santerre who ripped home her second of the evening to double the visitors' lead.
In the third, the Ravens would earn two chances on the powerplay but were unable to generate many chances, being forced into the neutral zone for several regroups by the Gaiters' passive penalty kill.
Despite the loss, the Ravens continue to hold fourth place in the RSEQ holding the tie-breaker over the Gee-Gees.
Carleton returns to action on Friday, January 19 in Montreal before returning home to host the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 7:00 p.m.
